Title: Crossroads Bia Office Assistant

 

The Crossroads of the Danforth BIA is located in Oakridge Neighbourhood, of Scarborough Southwest. The organization’s goal is to improve the attractiveness of the neighbourhood and promote all of the (mostly small) businesses in the area. The BIA Office Assistant would assist in all aspects of the activities of the Business Improvement Area.  All of the assigned work will go directly to promoting small businesses in the Crossroads BIA area of the Oakridge Neighbourhood, and the street festival. 

The position is part of the Canada Summer Jobs Program and is for a full time student between the ages of 15 to 30. The applicant should be someone whose focus and interest is in the Information, Communications and Technology fields and have excellent computer and social media skills. They must enjoy working in a dynamic team environment while being self-motivated and responsible. They will receive strong mentoring, build confidence and skill sets while fulfilling their various tasks.

The tasks to be assisted with will include-

* Implementing  BIA member networking events,

* Designing content and upkeep of BIA websites, newsletter and social media,

* Liaising with local and outside agencies, businesses and organizations,

* Promote the BIA at other festivals and events in the community.

*Updating member lists and directory,

*Managing the Crossroads BIA tent during our street festival, Wheels on the Danforth

*Collaborate in design, preparation and implementation of  BIA 10th Anniversary events including the Annual General Meeting

* Various office /administration tasks.

The primary hours of work will be Monday to Friday with the potential of evening and weekends depending on promotional or marketing requirements totaling 30 hours per week for a 9 week period.

End Date August 24th, 2018
